Why it happens and what you can do
Some Ocerra users report being unable to drag emails or attachments directly from New Outlook into Ocerra. This behaviour is expected and is not caused by Ocerra.
Microsoft’s New Outlook for Windows currently does not support drag-and-drop to external applications. This limitation affects all third-party desktop and web apps, not only Ocerra.
Ocerra fully supports drag-and-drop when the operating system allows it.
What Microsoft Says
Microsoft has confirmed this limitation in multiple public support threads:
“For New Outlook, I can’t drag and drop attachments”
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5577004/for-new-outlook-i-cant-drag-and-drop-attachment“No Longer Able to Drag and Drop Email from New Outlook”
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5631334/no-longer-able-to-drag-and-drop-email-from-new-out
These discussions confirm that New Outlook intentionally restricts drag-and-drop support at this stage.
Recommended Workarounds
To use drag-and-drop with Ocerra, you can choose any of the options below:
1. Switch to “Classic Outlook” (recommended)
Classic Outlook for Windows continues to fully support drag-and-drop into third-party apps, including Ocerra.
2. Use Outlook Web (browser version)
Outlook Web allows downloading attachments, and clients can then drag them into Ocerra.
3. Save the attachment locally and upload it
Download the PDF from Outlook and drag it into Ocerra or use the upload button.
4. Forward the email to your Ocerra invoice inbox
Every Ocerra environment has its own inbound email address. Forwarding the invoice bypasses Outlook’s drag restrictions entirely.
